Study questions 3

1a: there were 200 men and women that had there heads and shoulders painted red, had their heads bedecked with the white down of birds and most had long strings of beads around there neck.

2a: Powhatan ordered his execution and his daughter Pocahontas saved him by putting her head on top of his and stopping it from being crushed.

3a: She brought him provisions that saved most of the settlers lives.

5a: i think that John Smith told the story so many times and so many years later so that no one could dispute it and it made him look like a hero even though he might not have been.

1b: Powhatan wanted to show his power so he dressed in his nicest cloths. Because they tied him up and treated him badly. It was natural for Smith to think that the village people would view him as a monster for the bad things he did.

2b: I believe it was just a ceremony to adopt him into the family. 

3b: Because it is his daughter that brought them provisions in the winter that kept them alive.
