vocab 2 6/9/11

1) Disdain - V - to look upon or treat with contempt; despise; scorn. - my disdain for the soda machine that ate my money was great


2) Dogmatic - ADJ - asserting opinions in an arrogant manner. - every one treated him with disdain because of how dogmatic he was.


3) Egregious - ADJ - extraordinary in some bad way; glaring; flagrant. - his egregious language got the boy suspended from school.


4) Emulate - V - to try to equal or excel; imitate with effort to equal orsurpass. - all basket ball players should emulate Micheal Jordan's record.



5) Dissipated - V - scattered or dispersed. - the marbles dissipated when he knocked over the bag



6) Diminution - N - lessening. - the diminution of the ants made the ant collector angry.



7) Disparage - V - to speak of or treat slightingly. - do not disparage the people that have more power than you because you will most likely regret it later.



8) Effervescent - ADJ - bubbling. - the bath water combined with the bubbles was very effervescent.



9) Elucidate - V - to throw light upon; make clear. - The bank robber tried to elucidate his seriousness towards robbing the bank, so he shot a guard point blank. 



10) Distraught - ADJ - deeply agitated. - He was distraught because it was hell day in XC!
